This is my first post. I worked as clerk in the reference department at a public library. I enjoy reading posts from fellow librarians. I understand the pains we have to go through when working with the public. For the most part, I've tried to keep quiet about the problems here. This weekend pushed me over the edge! On the weekends, a professional and a clerk cover the two reference desks. I normally get stuck with all the computer problems, while the professional staff deals with your typical ref. questions. However, we have a problem with a certain professional who has a nasty habit of disappearing and forcing me to cover both desks. When I call him from the back break room(his favorite hidey hole) to come help, he gets all grumpy with me! I mentioned it to my boss. My boss proceeds in laughing it off. Thinking I'm just blowing off steam. Why is it that the people who actually attempt to do their job get craped on?!!
